Nii Armah Sowah





Sowah is an educator, storyteller, dancer, cultural ambassador and embodied philosopher. He studied at the University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts where he was also the principal dance instructor and choreographer.  He holds an M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapies from Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. A cultural ambassador, Nii Armah possesses a passion for building and strengthening bonds that support and foster human development. He is the Director of the 1000 Voices Project, a Boulder-based arts organization that works to build community and cross-cultural understanding through the introduction of African songs, rhythm games, dance, and storytelling. His research and teaching interests include African-centered pedagogy, cross-cultural education, arts for human development, African cultural philosophy, and arts for social change. Nii Armah is an Associate Teaching Professor at CU Boulder’s Dance Program. His courses include African Dance, Performance and Community Engagement, Introduction to Dance and Culture and African music.
